Without giving away too much, I’ll simply say that the final showdown and ending cinematic which follows are both quite satisfying. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline pretty well. Although the gist becomes readily apparent within a short time, the various details which are fleshed out at varying intervals throughout the game felt particularly intruiging. Without resorting to major spoilers, a couple of tips I’d recommend are as follows: 1. Pay special attention to the journal entries of Ellen Prentiss (the messages written in blood), for they contain critical clues toward solving some of the most significant puzzles in the game. 2. Fire extinguishers are especially effective against Fire Spawns (those orange glowing blobs on the third floor) 3. Leave the lurkers alone and they’ll leave you alone, although you’ve probably already figured that one out. Just in case, each level contains a single lurker, which itself resembles a green floating creature with numerous eyes, circular teeth, and furthermore seems well-versed at every single magic spell in the book. However, these creatures will only react if attacked by your character beforehand, and otherwise will passively float on by without a second thought. Hope you make it. Good luck! |

I found this level the hard way via the ethereal astral plane teleport (a lot of luck) you can imagine how stupid I felt when I went up the stairs and ended up on the first floor again, Doh! |

you can force computer to run the same refresh rate in "dxdiag.exe" (via start->run)

thanks for the suggestion Russ, but that option in dxdiag will only affect a windows application, not dos. Some dos games are playable in a dos window , this one isn't. it has to be full screen, and when I run it full screen the refresh rate zips back to 60 hz. I even tried scitech's driver for my trident 9680 video card, for dos only. after installing it was able to change refresh rates in dos, eg. 640x480 8 bit color, which is what legacy realms of terror runs at, I think, to 85 hz, and saved the settings. but when I run the game it goes back to 60 hz for some reason. while the game is running, my monitor has a readout, that states the game is running 640 x 480, @ 60hz. but... I think its really running in 320x 240, for which the scitech application can only run in 60hz. who knows.
