One more issue I just found out. Someone keeps connecting to my router around here. How can I boot them off? I see their computer in the "workplace" under network connections. How do I kick them out?

make sure your network accept only your PC's

network card have a number that is unique (the MAC adress) just configure you access point so it refuses any conexion using unknow MAC address.

Doesn't your router have WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)? It is some kind of security protocol for wireless networks.

If your router has it, activate it... You will need to enter a password for the encryption at the router and the same password in all the computers you want to be in your network.
