Well, I think there's only one basic city center design.
Place the bathhouse at the center. On its diagonals, put 3x3 blocks. On its horizontal and vertical sides, put fountains and temples. Next, a road surrounding the bathhouse + fountain + temples. xxxvvxxx xxxvvxxx xxxvvxxx vvvoovvv vvvoovvv xxxvvxxx xxxvvxxx xxxvvxxx x = residential v = temples, fountains, forum o = bathhouse Keep open spaces for the arena, circus and schools around this road. Watch that police and markets are not too close to the inner residential areas. Both hospitals and libraries can be on the edge of town, even next to industrial zone, just as long they're connected by road and have forum access. The smallest forum is cheap to build so don't be afraid to toss in a few. If you do it correctly and all goes as planned, those 3x3 residential zones (xxx) will turn into four beautiful palaces. For a bigger city: same trick I used in Simcity: build just another such a citycenter, connecting it by road to the other center. |

I didn't use zip because rar compresses much better and that is vital if you have a very slow connection.
I had to rename the file to the zip ... because my web server won't allow downloading .rar files and I couldn't change that from the remote location. I changed that - rar file. The .pl8 files are uploaded to the abandonia server and I messaged the admin (TomHenrik) but there was no reply. I just tryed to opened the .rar.zip file directly with winrar and it works fine. No renaming needed (it can be difficult if user doesn't know how to disable the hiding of file extensions). EDITed on 12th January 2006: New download link. Megaupload |

Hi Patriot, go to www.win-rar.com and you can download it on a free trial and it does a GREAT job, it really gets things un compressed in a superior fashion and it opened up the files that DSmidgey had up for us to help fix the Caesar II files. Worked great for me downloading. enjoy k: |

What I did was to transfer the pl8 files into a new copy of my master Caesar II files, I always save a master copy of game files when making adjustments just in case. The win rar asks you if you want to replace files, and if you say yes, it will then over write the old files with new copies and at the same time will put in the new files that are missing, hey presto, voila, veni vidi vici....you are ready. cheers and enjoy and yes, thanks a lot DSmidgey, you are a hero  Long Live the Empire! as you've already noticed, there's no way to get CEASAR II on abandonia
since it's ESA-protected. please bear in mind, that obtaining this game violates its copyright! |

I will get back to you on that.
But I believe pipes are made with the aquaducts function and you need pleb labor to get the water going |

How do you access the overlay to see what the coverage for a reservoir is? does anyone know the controls for that? water is very important for Rome, glad they included this in the game I am warming up on Centurion and hope to be ready for Caesar soon k: k: k: |

From the roll down menu in the right hand corner, select water (it is on geography at first).
Next, press the colored 'cards' next to this roll down menu and continue pressing the button. Now you will see the overlay of water utilities on the big map. Water access: this is basic water access and is suited only for small workers' houses in industrial areas. On the map this is marked as blue. Pipe access: you need this for your bigger buildings and fountains and bathhouses. Color is red at first (no water flowing yet). When you speed up time, you will see the red color turn into purple, meaning the pipes actually transport water now. It is recommended you stop time when in building mode. When you've build everything you intended to, speed up time to see the buildings grow and water flow. |
