The idea of micro blogging is that you put out facebook-esque status updates, random words of wisdom, or general news on a regular basis. This way, you don't need to write a fancy blog post everytime you feel the urge to share. Also, you get to know the other microbloggers better by gaining a bit of insight into their life and interests.

Aha, same as we did in real life when I was young and beautifull, was called 'make friends'.
Nowadays it's done behind a PC screen.  Lonely people.
