If you're going to mention Shawshank and the Green Mile, then you should include Stand By Me, which is also based on a Stephen King story.

I think District 9 is pretty sentimental. Besides that I just think it rocks..
This one is very good, but maybe I'm a little off with the things I find sentimental.  :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4zfUMdCJuo Sadly it's in Swedish, which can be a disadvantage for some. :P Almost of topic, the animated movie Up actually made me shed a tear in the beginning.  Besides that I second some of the movies already mentioned.
