Caesar 2 back on! my old CD crashed, so this is good... I suddenly realize I must have a manual for this somewhere

ok... in vista i get the message "cant run this in full screen" when running normal, and in other cases (dosbox) I can't fight battles, slightly annoying. suggestions?

Default broken file

It's great that this game is back up. The download here on abandonia is incomplete though, it is missing a lot of files. Judging by comments earlier in the thread, this was a problem when the game was first offered up for download too. Would be nice if someone could upload a proper release to replace this one.

Also, the sound seems to be rather dead.

Just Dl'ed the game from here and will play around with it a bit. As I said before, I still have the CD for Ce2 and to be quite honest, haven't actually attempted an install on WIN XP, or Vista, since I also have Ceasar 3, which does play well on XP.

I have several PC's I can test it out on from a flash drive. Win2000ME Pro, XP, Vista. Might take some time.

here is a link to the thread www.Tiltedmill.com

Not only old discs. I had a CD for Starcraft: Broodwar in my CD-rom. Actually it was a DVD rom when those were still new/rare. It blew up with such force that, I nearly shit myself, two, a piece of the plastic had forced its way nearly out of the rom case. It was wedged between two pieces of metal that I'd be hard-pressed to shove a flathead screwdriver into.

For those who have the CD (and for some reason don't want to download C2 online), try accessing the CD from a DOS prompt. Also you can try copying everything from the CD into a folder and try running it from there. You can also try finding the specific files online that you can't get off the CD. There are likely other possibilities too... like if you can only install a game partway, you could modify the config/registry to play the game despite glitchy/missing files/incomplete installation.

By the way, thanks VERY much for the pl8 files I can't wait to try out the battles!

@GenerousParasite, simply create an image, use deamon or such for the ol'windows games and "imgmount" with dosbox.
