Thumbs down

its called skype internet phone and here's the magic word that will hook you, ITS FREE!!! No hidden charges unless you want to call a land line. How it works is by having this free download, you use your mic to place a net call to another computer using skype. Pretty cool huh?

Now we no longer have to just type to one another, we can call and talk, and it works world wide, so get it quick!!! k:

Looks interesting, but what's the catch? Is there malware installing themselves with the program?

I'd like to know before hand. I'm not kind when it comes to spyware and the like, and this looks too good to be true.

I got myself two months ago a very nice piece of headphones, and there is a microphone integrated on it too. So no problems with microphones for me.

However, the only use I would get from this is when I'm playing multiplayer games... I'm wondering if that program could be used to "teamspeak" or something similar...

If it's free and unique, 9 out of 10 says it will make it easier for spyware to get in your computer. The company has to make money off of their product somehow.

funny you mention the word "teamspeak", cause that is exactly what the program is called, i guess you got lucky there eagle :P

Teamspeak homepage

This requires that someone hosts a server and you connect to it, I have friends who have servers and i connect to them so this is not a problem for me, however if you don't have a friend who is hosting one then you might be able to join a random one and hope no one notices so you can talk there, or you could just join a public one and make a seperate room.

There is also another chat program called "ventrillo" and can be found here:

Ventrillo

I much prefer teamspeak to ventrillo though, as it looks better, and the website looks much more professional

same here i was able to use msn messenger to have VOIP free of charge with headphone and microphone back in 2000 - all my family members do the same LOL

Its a bit patchy but its a good idea. ICQ does the same

I know about teamspeak but me and my friends dropped it because it was so unbeleivably complicated only for a "teamchat". What we wanted was only a TCP/IP connection to talk together, not have a server or anything like that...
