First concerns the Requests forum.
When you update a game, please run a search in there to see if there were any threads asking for it. If you find any, just send me a PM with links to them so I can tag and move these accordingly. It's just a few minutes for you and would help me a great deal in sorting up the request threads. Second, we've all seen the sheer amount of ignorant n00bs who download the game, don't check the compatibility options, and finally end up whining in the Games Discussion forum that the game doesn't work. So, how about adding these to the initial post of the Games Discussion thread? (for games compatibile with both DosBox and VDMSound) Code:
It is recommended that you use [url=http://dosbox.sourceforge.net]DosBox[/url] or VDMSound to run this game. You can get VDMSound from [url=http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=programs]our programs page[/url], and most recent version of DosBox can be downloaded [url=http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1]here[/url]. If you are unsure how to run games in DosBox, please check [url=http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php]the official DosBox FAQ[/url], and more specifically [url=http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=Basic+Setup+and+Installation+of+DosBox]the beginner's guide.[/url] Code:

I agree with your ideas but there are a couple of things I want to add. There will always be noobs who will continue to complain that the downloads wont work. The other thing is that the forum at the Dosbox website will not (repeat) will not answer any questions on games from abandonware sites. That unfortunately is their policy. So there will be Noobs who can't make heads or tails of Dosbox and have to be walked through it.

Finally, some interdisciplinary connecting.
The two quotes to add to new games seem like a really good idea, but somebody should add them to the games already on the site. About the other suggestion for sending links to requests, I guess the updaters are among the people who can do it fastest (since they can start searching even before a game is updated - they know what will be added), but other members can join in as well (anyone can click a search button and all the members can clearly see what the new update is), so I think all we need are a few willing members with some time to spare (if everybody could just send in the links your PM could get full withing minutes). |

First of all, I posted your suggestions in Updaters forum.
I did not find any problem regarding Requests. (Game I will add today has not been requested btw.) For the second idea we should consult Kosta I'm afraid. I'm personally for this solution *edit* I just become informed that Kosta will be not on-line before Sunday. Will be a problem to wait with this deccission until next week?
