has anybody tried runnint 3danalyse with virtual PC?

http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/index.php

I don't have a virtual machine set up to try it on so was just wondering if anybody else had tried it

( I was going to add it to the post below but it was slightly different )

I shall try it later on both my windows 95 and 98 VPCs and play Carmageddon 1,splat pack and 2. Anyways I didn't know 3dfx really still existed. I remember there was always 3dFX, Direct X and Software video settings on old games. There isn't 3dfx anymore is there?

I wish you could use your gfx card on the host machine to be used in the VPC. Apparently there is no direct X support on VPC which means the way I want to use it is useless. I wanted to install windows 95 and 98 so I could play my old games... such as carmageddon 1. Without some sort of 3D card support it's gonna either look especially like crap or it's not gonna run at all.

You can install directX in VPC.
What you can't have is a 3D card support, that's not the same.
All (or better said: most) W95 games that can run in software mode will work in VPC.

Tombraider runs in it to name one, Quake +QII, A-10Cuba.... and so on.

If you want to play games that only run good with a 3Dcard look for a cheap P1 or better P2.
Or dualboot.
VPC won't do it.

I just tried to run carmageddon on windows 98 and it froze at the loading screen into the race. I installed DirectX 8.1 on Windows 98.

Did you run Carma in software mode?
If my ol'memory serves me as it should there was the possibility to run Carma in software modus.

Some Carma players on another forum claims that they get Carma running pretty swell in XP with Glidos.
That's Glidos's techpage about it:

I remember on carmageddon 2 you could choose what graphics mode you want. But I can't find it for carmageddon 1

What is this glidos thing, the website doesn't explain much about it. All I know is that I had carmageddon 2 working in xp... then it just stopped working and just kept crashing at the loading screen. I haven't tried carmageddon 1 in xp yet.

Did anybody try VMWare with experimental 3D support? I tried, most stuff doesnt work, and what works looks wrong... but I hope they are going to improve 3D support with the next version of VMWare. After all, they need it to support Vista´s "Aero" interface, so sooner or later they are going to do it (I think)...
