I'm not saying it's abandonware, I'm saying I think there's a very good chance of it being abandonware.

I also said a ton of times is there any way I can figure out whether it is or not?
Cause I'd really like to see this on the site.

Look Pigggy, I agree that Neuromancer is a classic game, and that it ought to be put on the site, but the thing is that the last time an ESA protected game was put on the site (without permission from the ESA) we lost the right to host any ESA protected games. We could, as you say, just put it on and see if they react, but seeing as how we're trying to stay on their good side (hoping to some day get permission to host some of their games), it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Neuromancer may be on many other abandonware sites, but that doesn't mean it's not ESA protected. It's not unheard of that the ESA allows one or more sites to host a specific game (that was the case with Abandonia), but that doesn't mean anyone can host it.

And I don't know any foolproof way to tell whether a game is abandonware or not, which is why we use the rule of thumb, that if the developer of a game is on the ESA list, we don't host it. Sure, Interplay is dead, but I very much doubt their copyrights are just floating in limbo. They ended up owing a lot of money, after all.

@ Piggy

You've been told that Abandonia will not host this game.
Why risk more trouble from ESA?

If you're so desperate for this game, why not go to one of the other sites you seem so keen on?

Are you talking to me? It's a bit confusing when you quote your own post. If you are talking to me, I have a better idea; why don't YOU find out, since you're the one who requested the game.

I'm trying, why don't you help out ?
I'm just really dead set on getting Neuromancer onto this site, cause we need to share it's greatness.

I'm not going to say anything more, so you help to look for it's status or we go nowhere.

Interplay signed a contract with Vivendi Universal, handing over all copyrights to them. Vivendi Universal IS one of the biggest ESA companies. And Interplay has been listed as ESA Protected on this site ever since we made the ESA list available.

Neuromancer will NOT be added to the site. Not before
1. ESA shuts down
2. Vivendi Universal releases it as freeware
3. Vivendi Universal closes the contract with ESA
4. Vivendi Universal gives us permission to host it.

Now stop this immediately!

Thanks Tom for the fullproof NO here, it was getting tiresome.

So guess what Piggy? "We go nowhere."
