If you are using Windows 98 then you don't need DOSBox. Very few people seems to be able to run DOSBox on Win98.
I just downloaded and tryied the game using VDMSound and it works fine when launching sierra.exe. Most of the time, when a DOS game hang up at startup and refuse to load, it's due to sound configuration. Make sure your sound configuration is well done. It should be souldblaster and compatible by default (for DOSBox), if you don't use DOSBox and you don't have a soundblaster you should change it. At worse take no sound or pc speaker. |

Well I don't know what the problem is with this. The Resource.map file is in there. but it says it can't load it. I've tried this installing at least 4 times and it doesn't seem to want to play on my system. Don't worry this is just my luck. :ranting:

Take a wild shot and run all the exe's except INSTGAME.BAT.
These are the settings I used for the game: EGA monitor IBM PC (i'll change this as the internal speaker sounds mental) IBM Keyboard NO joystick YES mouse Then run Sierra.exe.... if that doesn't work then give DosBox a try: DosBox Picture Example |

are you running in a windows 98 Dos Shell or are you running in full dos?
It's more likely to work in ordinary dos than in a windows 98 shell! |

Are you extracting them properly? Eg. Selecting the "Extract All" option, and not just running sierra.exe from inside Winzip by chance?....
Once extracted run: __INSTH.BAT Exit once it says press any key to continue GODIR.COM EXISTS.COM SPACE.COM Then do settings in INSTALL.EXE and try SIERRA.EXE Note: This is not the usual method of playing!!! You normally don't have to do any besides the install, but who knows.... try anything once |

A few suggestions:
1.Try going into Dos. It might work better! 2.Have you tried downloading it again, just in case it was a bad download? 3.Make sure you have actually extracted the files. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but in winzip or whatever you are using make sure you actually click on "extract files" or whatever it says so it is uncompressed into a new folder on your hard drive! Then go to that folder and run it from there. Do not run any of the install .exe's - the game does not need to be installed! |
