Whooo! Ok maybe second oldest LOL

I'm so sorry to disappoint you, but you are fourth :bleh:

1. Grand Dad
2. Borodin
3. Romano
4.<strike> You </strike>

About etiquette and netiquette I can only say that some young people here are unmannered. Unfortunately some of them are moderators, and that is a shame.

Second oldest....? In your dreams big baby.

[...]i mean it's a problme if someone uses a search engine and replies to an old thread and agian it's a problem if osmeone posts a new thread about a problem that was discussed before but he has slightly different file system. so what is right now?!? i mena you are not allowed to make a new thread and you are not allowed to write in old thread on same topic. what are you allowed then?

if the old topics souldn't be resurected then they should be either closed or moved to archive instead of scolding off the members just for using forum features.[/b]
Merging them would probably the solution.

But actually if the topic matches EXACTLY what you say - why not using it.
In all other cases I think it's better to create fresh topics to keep them small.

The point is, in thebes case it was justified to revive the old topic because it was a topic of troubleshooting for that game.

I noticed on some forums, that admins closes nearly all topics, which are old or in their opinion there have been said all about the topic. I do not like that - it makes a lot of new topics with nearly same questions and it makes difficult to make a quick search.

I believe that it's better to keep old ones open, and do have one topic for one game/problem/something. It's easier in my opinion to read a lot of posts than to have to look through 7 slightly different topics.

Of course reviving posts like: "I agree" or "I didn't had that problem" as always should be considered as a spam. I admit, when I a newbie here I wrote post like that, but for now ... waste of my and reader's time (but the post count was growing )

You obviously don't read forums very often, isn't? Standard netiquette is pretty straightforward about this kind of thing: unless you have something extremely ontopic to add or are the thread starter, it's frowned upon almost everywhere to resurect a thread. Older the thread get, worse is the offense on this.
[/b]
Great going EoF, you've just closed 90% of the game discussion forum - since games that were added to Abandonia earlier are not generally talked about that much and heaven forbid somebody would ask a question or want to contribute something on Prehistorik 2 (one of the earliest games added to Abandonia), because it would be the resurection of a thread.

I'm behind the netiquette 100% percent, about 5000 miles behind it in the people friendly zone that is!

Yeah that word netiquette sounds like a preposterous grammar nazi word for me.

i agree with bob satan. threads should stay opened unless its something critical. maybe some mods do it cause they think that they should do something and when there is nothing on their hands they start makin up stuff and seeing things which they would normaly ignore

also, whether its good or not ressurecting post depends on a forum where you post. there are "actual threads" and "threads which are actual all the time"

1. The guest said clearly he was running it on an actual 486 system.
2. This thread has been goddamn DEAD for three years!

And as it's not the first time you dig up old threads and bring their corpses back up, I won't be as tolerant as before

This is the nice message I received. Sorry I misunderstood the old thread rule. I'm afraid I don't have 20 hours a day to post 30,000 times. I am not a computer genius like all the mod, V.I.P."s etc. I just looked up the game on your search engine and thought I would add a bit as yes I knew it was a 486 he was talking about as I had to fight with game on DOS when the game came out. That's after my AMIGA 500.
Dead for three years, so? I can understand why you would want to close thread's when it is nothing but everyone whining at each other. But why close out the troubleshooting when someone might add a new idea. If you use your search engine for GNBNA all anyone will see is the old thread. Why start up a new thread to add to the thousands when you could have all of the troubleshooting on this game on one? At least in troubleshooting would not this be better?
If you just want to say you are right no matter what and talk down to me and close this thread fine. I would hate to leave abandonia but it's your kingdom.
The reason this is not PM as I am sure will be pointed out is I am talking about a rule change just for the troubleshooting that I believe should be considered.
If I am soooo wrong, ok. I will not come back and whine about it over and over. Nor will I curse about it. Just give your oldest member (age) a break.
[/b]
You bumped up overtly old topics in the past and were told to cease that:

If I dug up the corpses of your long-dead great-great grandparents and brought them to your house, how would you feel?

At the time my mistake was not looking at the dates. I was new. If old threads are so bad then why keep them? But as far as tech trouble on a game which is what I brought up, whats so bad about adding on to that game instead of starting up yet again on the same game. Then it would be all more or less in one place. Less threads scatterd all over. If all you want to do is give me a tounge lashing, well ok, fine. Yes I made mistakes. But sorry, I can't compare old threads to family, try as I might.
