Default annoying MAX problem

Just got an old copy of MAX and tried to run it on my laptop running windows XP, when un from windows it just doesn't start, running the batch file with VDM sound emulator gives me a black screen and DosBox gives me an error saying

Quote:
can't create swap file c:\intrplay\max\DOS4GVM.swp
DOS/4GW professional fatal eror (1011): VMM initialisation error (1)
Any ideas on how to fix this? I'd love to play this old classic again

Is the location in the batch file correct (C:\Intrplay\MAX\) or did you place the game elsewhere?

If this is in DOSBOX, then Dosbox isn't regestering your available freesize correctly.
(You have too much for Dos standards )

You have to add the following in your [autoexec] section:

mount c "C:\dosgames" -freesize 800

Where "C:\dosgames" is the location where you keep your DOS games.
That should do the trick.
