Arrow Useful question on American game magazines

...my question is:

Do American video-game magazines have "cover CDs" (or cover DVDs) with them?

If yes, then do any of those magazines regularly include full versions of games on the cover discs?

Rarely do they ever have full versions. Only time they would do that is if they had a sequel come out for something and released an old abandonware title that may be part of the games franchise. You'd be luck to get a good demo with them. Why would they give an entire game anyway?

Majority of the game mags aren't really worth it unless they have walkthroughs with them, then again you can go to gameFAQS for those free.

Awwww you poor things

It's not like in Poland, where every (or almost every) game magazine comes with full versions of games on its cover discs.

The quality of those games range from low-budget crap , through mediocre games (Total Overdose or Ubersoldier), up to great hits (such as Fallout).

Actually, the time when they had just 1 full version every now and then are over.
Now they have 2 - 3 (sometimes more) fulls every issue.

I can only get PC Gamer and other American mags at second hand book shops.

The full versions are somewhat of a controversy around here. Many people believe that they have become the main selling point of magazines, and the primary reason why people even buy them in the first place. They claim that people no more care about the quality of articles or the 'climate' of the periodicals, but about the full versions.

i always found it more usefull if the magazine offered info on other programes and also user experience. the plus and minus, the strengths and weaknesses.

and not only poland.. whole europe is filled with those mags. and i got pretty cool games from it i remember. i bet slovakia wouldn't even know what fallout is if it wasn't for LEVEL magazine who gave away a full game (and it was quite recent)
and for example i checked czech level magazine and for this month the full games are: Bad Day L.A. and he Fall: Last Days of Gaia
