About directories: A menu-based batch do wonders. From the root, I ran (eg) games.bat, Underworld, press 1.... you get the idea. It made dos a little easier. FTR, I didn't get a pc until win98 came along. So I never really got into the DOS issues. I only used the boot disk (a modified rescue disk) when I wanted to play the oldies.

Too bad that in XP you can't enter dos so easly as in 98. Now all we have is dosbox. :wallbash: It's nice but I still prefer the original thing! |

I'll have to say that the golden age ended in the start of the 90's... I think the peak was during the SNES and Sega Megadrive period... lots of games and there was still space for pc, C64 and others...
Today you see that it's a fight to survive and you lose a lot of gameplay for graphics. |

Tried some NES and SNES games on emulators - not bad. Sad they weren't remade for DOS.

I must say I enjoyed DOS, typing in commands was fun for me...
