Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris.

The stupidest game ever invented. You run around with a hammer and smash pumpkins. You collect powerups for your hammer so you can smash bigger, nastier pumpkins. Why on earth did someone invent this game?

It all comes from a joke. When the DOOM Series got huge, someone wrote into ID Software and told them that the game would not have done as well if it hadn't chosen such a cool, ominous name such as "DOOM." He said that the game would have done miserably if it had been named something stupid like "Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris." This message generated a huge response, and later on ID Software incorporated the initials of the fake title into the NOCLIP cheat code: IDSPISPOPD.

To take the joke further, a small-time game programmer went ahead and made a real game with the title.

In my opinion, DOOM was one of the most influential games (not to mention fun and high-quality in its time) to ever be released. Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris has an eternal connection to DOOM and our video game heritage.

It's available for download at SPISPOPD! but I don't know how legal it is... seems pretty freeware to me...
