Hey thought I'd update you all on my new rig.

-I got a new case, not sure what it is, but it has a led on the face that tells me my cpu temp and some other not so important things.
-I installed that m7ncd biostar mobo, but that will be the next upgrade as it doesn't support dual mem, or allow for me to adjust voltage or cpu multiplier.(I'll have to settle with fsb for now). The bonus is that its nforce 2, and supports up to 400 fsb.
-I picked up a amd xp 2400+(tbreb B). Supposedly overclockable, but with factory hsf I'm running at 40 celcius, is this hot?
-I also purchased another 40 gig wd hdd, so now I am doing a master/slave config between the two.
-salvaged my gpu, spu, and a stick of 512 2100 ram.
I just ordered a set of 512 crucial twinix 3200 ram however, and I am itching to see the results.
well that's it. I juped up about 50 fps with this new rig in cs source, not bad for $450 total.

on the cs source note, does anyone here play regularily, and want to maybe start up an abandonia team for competition? LOL if so message me.

Thats some machine you have Evad. My dream would be a PC which could be powerful enough for Doom3's ultra graphics. Heh, maybe in a few years...

Well, for that all you need is a half decent cpu, some good ram, and a 500 dollar video card. The engine is not to taxing, its the graphical settings and the shaders mostly. Just wait for the PCI-express technology to iron itself out and in a year or two it willl be very possible at a decent price I think. I tried to set mine up to ultra and it warned me...;P
And I'm serious about the abandonia source team....all applicantes message me. No one will be turned away

cool comp , I am happy however with my little P166 beast . I am glad I am a DOS gamer instead of a Modern gamer , I don't have to worry about high end graphics and video cards, etc

No, it's fine. Actually AMD CPUs have the tendency to overheat (like >60C), but it doesn't affect their performance or durability (perhaps a little, but it's obvious that the less the temperature the longer will they work).
But what I found strange - is hardware really so expensive in Canada? (or maybe You wrote the price in Canadian Dollars?)

I paid 95 canadian dollars for the cpu. Definitely not very expensive. I added a few fans, I'm standing at 36c idle, and about 41-42c while playing games.

My AMD XP chip runs at around 70C just while it's idle! But it's lasted for years, and I've never had any trouble.
