Try "I Wanna be The Guy". It's a freeware game.

X:Tension, a game I just re-found. Combines space flight sim and trading. Pretty cool.

Baldur's Gate for an old school AD&D rpg game experience.

Ultima Underworld 1 or 2

Pac-Man. Seriously. It rocks.

The Hobbit, if you want a cool text adventure dating back to the last ice age.

Tyrian 2000 - a DOS game that suggests you run it in Windows.

EDIT: You know what we need here? A 'random game' button.
