Default Daggerfall to work

Must....make...Daggerfall....work!!

Ugh. I tried it last night. Here's how it went:

1. First, I tried with an special Windows installation program, which at the same time patched the whole thing. Its still unplayable in Dosbox (complains that the cd isnt in drive. And Im pretty sure I got all the d:\ -t cdrom stuff right) and on windows, sounds are chopped, character moves like he's been dipped in glue-vat and everything else just goes plain too fast. This causes problems with enemies, who dont seem to attack me.
2. Second, Installed it with dosbox. As it claimed that Im missing few 600 MB from my hard drive (That is so lie!), I had to use minimal installation. Anyway, this didnt work, as it yet again claimed that I was missing a cd
3. Third time I got better results. After I installed it with dosbox, I placed the original exe with a no-cd exe and boom! It works!
Then it stopped working after I tried to patch the game.

So, in short, I want to make Daggerfall work without choppy sounds and glued characters and I want it patched.

I found this, but this is a slightly different case, as this was downloaded from the internet and it used nocd.bat

The program reports the actual amount of free space on your actual HDD, and the installer was not programmed to expect such large HDD's as we use nowadays.
Add -freesize 700 to your default mount, and that little bit should be solved.

Everything went well until I installed the patch. Then it stopped working again.

The problem is that without the patch Daggerfall is more than highly buggy and unstable.
I remember before applying it when it was released there were lot of impossible to explore dungeons, as it was just crashing to dos, and then most of the quest were never completed.

While there were some bugs left, with the latest patch you can finish every quests and do not meet so many crash to dos in dungeons.

I always have a win98 OS installed on an old computer and so never tried Daggerfall in DOSBox.
I remember having read that there is some kind of software named Virtual PC that allow you to "virtually" run an older OS when you have window XP.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Virtual_PC
That could be a possible solution for you if you want to run Daggerfall without DOSBox as apparently it gives you problems.

Not unusual, the patch eliminates the no-cd ..... or something.

TC, you mean you applied the patch after No-CD?
That's now how you're supposed to do it.
First you apply the patch.
Then you apply the No-CD crack, remembering that it MUST be specified for the patch version you've got.

Time to dig this topic back up, as Im once again trying to run this beast.

Now, I first installed the Daggerfall (full), then patched it. This time, I followed the rules on here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Runni...Box#Daggerfall

After the installation and patching, when I try to run it, it all works. Then, If I restart dosbox and play it again, it crashes when I either load a game or choose a race from new game.

And this time, I didnt use the no-cd patch.
