Hey guys. I recentely got a cracked CD stuck in my D: drive, which is ok. It didn't kill it, but now the D: Drive runs really loud, and I don't wanna keep using it. I have another CD ROM drive, that doubles as my cd burner, but it runs games perfectly fine too, and is less noisy, which is my E: drive. Im thinking of just removing my D: drive completely, so that im safe, rather than sorry
However, a lot of my games that I install and have installed already (even those installed from my E: drive) still try and read from the D: drive when I try running the game, and say "please insert cd". Not ALL games do this, only about 50% of them...I was wondering if there's any way to go in, and tell the computer that E: is now the drive it should make CD's read from, OR Is there a way to tell each individual game to read from a drive other than D:? Im not looking for a No cd crack, I WANT the game to read from the CD like normal, just not the D drive. |

You need to change your Bios setting unless I'm mistaken.
Anyways, moving this to technical. |

Wierd that so many games still do that. I cannot remember ever having this problem with any game I have.
A more laborious and difficult way of changing this if, for some reason, the method of SupSuper does not work is to maually change the registry entry for all game that give you a problem to check the other CD drive. Or simply run them from the CD (autorun).

If you change your cd drive anyway eg take out the broken one then the other one should become D: anyway. But you can change the Drive letter in XP tho to help as well.

Yeah old games do that, newer games should not give this problem.
