Most things *you* do, maybe, yes. Don't speak for everyone else.

I love the internet, myself. I can look up so much game information using it.

...And other random, actually useful shit.

That's what makes it fun.

That and porn.

Meh, government morons. What do they want to achieve by limiting the internet? I mean, it can be useful to fight against torrent-fighters who just donwload a music which isn't there 'for grabs'. But indeed, several smaller corporation which use the internet as a source of advertising themselves, it is something like... Madness.
I hope it won't be off. I want to have FREE contact service, like MSN to reach my friends, and talk to them instantly. Don't think I'm lazy to go over their place - I do.
And these blackouts should mean the end of multiplaying if you don't want to pay a horrible fee?
Two words.
No Thanks.

EDIT: Under FREE, I mean, we don't pay extra money for it. My opinion is that if a person pays the monthly internet salary, is more than enough for someone's finances.

Thanks for the info on that, I had read about it before but didn't realise the political procedure had gotten that far!

I've just sent emails to all the MEP's in my county, there's seven of them from all political parties so it will be interesting to see who if anyone replies, I have been quite political over the years and have sent many letters/emails to MP's and some times they reply but often it's a standard response from their office secretary.

Anyone in the UK wanting to send a copy of that letter to their MEP can use this site, it's a bit easier to find your local MEP's than the other site.

http://www.europarl.org.uk/

In an age when the internet has become so integrated into our lives what they want to do is nothing less than severe censorship and restrictions on freedom of speech, think living in China!

Just thought I would add a copy of the letter on that site here so anyone who wants to "and why wouldn't you want to?" can just add their MEP's name and sign it and email it.

Dear YOUR MEP's NAME HERE,

I’d like to draw your attention to the Telecoms Package which I believe will be voted on by the European Parliament committees at the end of March and again on 21 April by all MEPs.

I have serious concerns that the changes that the European Parliament is proposing will adversely affect business in the European Union.
I understand that the European Parliament is proposing to include changes to the law which will affect my access to the Internet, and which may limit, restrict or place conditions on my ability to access websites and services.

I use the Internet every to work, shop, socialise, bank, research, listen to music, enjoy cultural activities, talk to friends and family, order tickets, choose my holidays, pursue my interests and hobbies...and much more.
The changes in the law that the European Parliament is proposing will permit my broadband provider to offer me a limited, restricted or conditional service. My concern is that such changes will kill the life of the Internet as we know it, and could have serious, detrimental economic impact on Europe’s economy.

I am writing to ask you, as my representative in the European Parliament, to vote to protect our right to trade and do business using the Internet.
As we live in a democratic society, we need to openly debate these issues and establish the principles for the Internet as society.

Please support amendments which safeguard my rights to access and distribute content, services and applications and reject any text which talks about ‘lawful content’ or about placing limitations, restrictions or conditions on my Internet access. In particular, I would like you to guarantee my rights to freely use the Internet, and ensure that all websites and services are accessible to all users.

Yours sincerely ,
YOUR NAME HERE.
