Recently I tried to install and play the thing on my new PC. And guess what, the game installed, ran in compatibility mode... and then when I go to a mission it _crashed_ on turn 1.

Did any one of you experience this? Did you solve it and how?

Solved that thing. The solution... MS Virtual PC running Win98!

However, it is freaking slow... guess I'll have to buy a second hand P 300 or something like that. Meanwhile, VPC is a decent replacement.

Damn, thats not an ideal fix for me.

I'm experiencing the same issue - however I am certain that I've played a couple times already Without it crashing. Now it crashes all the time after turn 1.

I'll update if I find anything, cause I badly want to play this (easily under xp)

Install it under a DOS-standard path (8-character dirnames, no spaces etc). Use Win98 compatibility. Patch only to 1.1.
Worked for me.

Yes. Famous Cultist Bug. I solved it once, using cracked exe and compatibility settings. No use: game still missing sound for some reasons. So I choose Virtual PC. It works.
