Thumbs down

I just try to reinstall a old computer my pa (or dad, daddy, papa, however you call it) digged out of the basement. He thinks he needs a PC...phhrt! <_<

At least he won't go on my nerves anymore.

Anyway, i made a bootdisk for reinstaling the Piece-of-Garbage PC, and the issue is: The damn thing won't boot from Floppy. I did everything i can think of. I made the Win 98 Bootdisk, and changed the Boot-Sequence.

The PC just won't boot. :wallbash: :ranting:

Any idea how to solve the problem?

No idea, except for maybe going into the BIOS and setting drive a: as main booting device or whatever you call that.

I have a similar problem with my first PC. A programmer friend of my dad says the disk controller is probably broken. Maybe that's the problem with your PC. You might wanna get a new floppy drive, though. They're cheap on eBay, it's just the shipping that ruins the price.

We changed the Floppy Drive with another one we still had in another computer, and no luck. Or is the damn controler not in/on the Floppy Drive? Is it the thing UNDER the drive?

Damn, i hate hardware issues! :ranting:

Are you sure the FDD is properly connected?
Is it correctly configured in BIOS?
Did you enable "floppy drive seek at startup" option (or its equivalent) in BIOS?
