Not at all, sir. As this game has nothing to do with the D&D standards, and is not in fact, an official D&D release supported and admitted by Wizards of the Coast (or whoever is the copyright holder of the D&D brand nowadays), there is no reason to label it as a D&D game, despite it has dungeons and dragons featured in it's gameplay.

I think it is an official AD&D game, it was at the time. SSI and Dreamforge made most (I would say all but I can't be sure) AD&D games. The current holders of the copyright and their opinion doesn't really matter, if it was at the time a licensed and official use of the rule set then I don't see why it couldn't be put into the Dungeons and Dragons group. (I assume we are talking about the group that goes at the bottom of the page I have forgotten their names now)

It is written on the game itself that it is an AD&D product. I think it use second edition. How could this game not be a D&D game? |

AD&D is second edition D&D (my Ravenloft books have it on them so it is not just a PC term it is used in the paper version too) and yes I agree this was at the time an official use of the rule-set and license that SSI had.

3rd and 3.5 was also Advanced. They dropped it only when they got to fourth.
But yeah. Judging by the time the game was made, there is no way it can use 3rd edition rules. It is very easy to know anyways: if your AC get down instead of going up when you get better armor then you are playing second edition. The rules were not really harder or more confusing back then... They were only different. |

It is an official TSR licensed product, as SSI was the holder of the TSR license before it wandered to Interplay. And I'd say it tries to be a more action and roguelike oriented game. Random dungeons, lots of loot, eating and drinking, scores and even the flavor text when you are killed. It build on top of the AD&D ruleset, but is very fighting heavy. Also, it has a sort of sequel on the 3DO, Slayer.

I have not seen Advanced used with 3 or 3.5 D&D, my 3.5 books are all marked as Dungeons & Dragons. All of my Ravenloft (all 2nd edition) books are marked Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Since I don't have any of the extra 3.5 books I can't say for sure but from what I have seen only 2nd edition used Advanced and only after a certain level as well. I had a starter kit for 2nd edition and it only had a Basic D&D rule book and talked about getting the advanced one for the rules after level 3 or 4 (I am so sad I got rid of that rule set). But once again I could be wrong.
I will see about adding this game to the Dungeons & Dragons group, it uses the rules and was an official game. |
