Gold Rush............what a great game. It's always overlooked when people talk about great old adventures -- I wish someone like AGDI would release a new VGA version with icons instead of a parser.

Gold Rush was one of my all-time favorite adventure games. Some of my other favorites included Goblins 3, Kings Quest 5, Day of the Tentacle, and the Leisure Suit Larry games. Gold Rush is the only one of those that I don't have.

Never played Goblins -- the others are all great, although I like KQ6 better than 5 and I like Fate of Atlantis better than Day of the Tentacle. Still phenomenal games though.

Hey, back to the original post, that other game Below the Root was apparenly only made for the Apple II, and the Commodore 64. GameFAQs has a bit of information.
Oh, and *ahem*, Underdogs seem to have it. Less than 100k too! http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=113 They have Swiss Family Robinson, Treasure Island, and Wizard of Oz too, from the same company. Great! |

Below the Root
Maybe one of you guys can help me remember this game but I have completely forgot what's it called and it's just bugging the heck out of me.
This is an very old PC based game, maybe late 80s. It's kind of like "out-of-this world" you play the game from a side view, but this game is not colored (monocrone). Basically you walk around left right up and down talking to people and performing task and missions. You also have this cape that if you jump from trees you can glide to ground, and you can run and jump. I think you can get torch to go into cave also, but they only last for a while. I belive I used to have it on my 386 or even older PC, had to load it on one of those giant 5.25 floppies. |
