Ooo, thats a though one.
I like both. I think that most new games suck harder than most old ones.
I really dont care about graphics at all. It if has good gameplay and makes you want to keep playing it, than thats what counts.
One thing I hate is when an old game is remade or the idea is used in a new game, then that game totally butchers the classic! :ranting: not cool!

@Haarmensch: Your definately right about UFO!

Nice necro

I preffer the older ones myself, ih only they had more multiplay back then...
Right now we have more multiplay than ever, or am I the only one thinking that way?

And about oldy and new games: it depends on the gameplay, graphics and the genre. oldy games are (usually) more original tough.

I've just spent a summer essentially combing games stores for oldies...or retro as they are officially classed. I'd rather play old games like Super Mario World (as I'm doing now) than anything else. They simply have more replay value, as well as no confusing cameras (a serious pet hate of mine). I can see myself playing old snes/amiga/nes games five years from now, but I can't see me doing it with the current batch of games.

I preffer The oldies, because I can't afford a better computer to play NFS:Most Wanted or World of Warcraft and most of the new games don't have any original ideas anymore. The oldies on the other hand... some of them have a very awful graphic, sound or control, but sure is better an old game with bad graphic than a new game that doesn't bring anything new than a beautiful graphic.

Erm... When you said oldies I was thinking games made prior to 1990... I don't know why, but that year seems to be a border between older and newer stuff.

Oldies - no competition!

I guess to me, being mainly an adventure game player, it's also a question of quality versus quantity, because they are making so few adventure games these days, and though the graphics in those few may be better than the old, they have an annoying tendency to put in action sequences and stuff like that.

For example do I prefer broken sword 1 to bs 3, no contest.

And I'd rather play leisure suit larry 1 than 8.

So if oldies mean 5 years old or more, then I suppose I have to say I prefer them.

I prefer good games over either one, but alot of old games actually let me play. Too many new games tend to explain everything. Just imagine them making Super Mario Bros 1 nowadays. It'd go like this:

First level starts.
"Press left and right to move. Go on, give it a try."
Player moves and the first enemy appears
"Avoid enemies like this."
"ADVANCED! Big tip: Jump on an enemy to defeat it."
"To jump, press B"
Player squashes the enemy and sees the first ?-block
"TIP! Hit these blocks from the bottom by jumping against it. Try it."
etc
