Phantasmagoria is a travesty of a game[/b]
Yeah I was kind of spoiled by the time I played it by better games, it was too similar to The Shining, but not as good. I was blown away by 2 though (which I played first). I think they did something right in that one in that everyone who's played either hates it or loves it. Either way, I can't think of any movies/games offhand that are like 2.

Does that mean you just never heard about them? Or that you need to know where to find them?[/b]
No, I literally never heard of them, which is great. As far as finding them, I tend to be pretty resourceful about that, also I'm picky in that I like to secure CD ISO copies of the game if one was released/re-released. This usually amounts to a talkie version of the same game. Shadow of the Comet for instance is like that. Abandonia has the disk version up here for download, but the CD version has full voice, an extended intro, and maybe more.

Clive Barkers Undying. It's a bit old, but this was the only game which could frighten me occasionally

Not really scary, and bugged like hell on top of that.

If you want something moderately scary - kind of in Aliens style - get Incubation: Time is Running Out (aka Incubation: Battle Isle Phase 4). Take on the highest difficulty and you'll quickly get your shivers.

Also X-Com: Terror from the Deep has a fair degree of survival horror elements in it.

PS. Bloodrayne is a TPP slasher-horror, not really actual horror.

Silent Hill!

The first part... I still get the creeps. Running throught the fog, radio static, those darned birds appearing from nowhere... And the school, don't make me go there again! Too bad there's no PC version, and PS emulators have trouble with it

The rest of the series are available for PC (and PS2) but they're kinda mediocre... The first part rules!

Well the games I mentioned were all made on AGS so I doubt there are ISO versions.

Clive Barker's Undying is a good suggestion. It was out of stock in local gamestores, so I have not bought it yet, but I keep the demo around, and I must say I quite like it.

Heard some good opinions on Silent Hill, too, but again I have not played the series.

Anyway, it seems chilledsanity has played Clive Barker's Undying and Silent Hill series.

I actually started playing this and got through the first two sections of the game and I wasn't finding it scary at all. Does it get better later on?

I feel like an idiot, but I don't know what TPP stands for. As for actual horror, that's kind of interpretive, but I never really specified that in the first place (Monster Bash is horror, but not scary), which is why I'm looking for scary instead. Bloodrayne isn't the scariest, granted, but I thought the section with the Daedrites was good and creepy.

Hehe, I was kind of hoping for a hat trick to see someone recommend System Shock 2 on top of those. And Onyx, 1 ran flawlessly for me under ePSXe and I thought 2 topped them all.

You're probably right then. I usually just cross reference the release data on mobygames to see if there was a CD version.

If you say so, obviously I needed to do some tweaking in ePSXe (which I didn't do :P)

By the way - I've been playing Black Mirror recently myself.
On the beginning it is quite creepy, though that heavy mood doesn't stay for long. There are several very - VERY - scary moments in it still.
The game has some similarity to Gabriel Knight 1 (you'll see what I mean by that) mixed with a plot that has a very Lovecraftian feel.
Reccomended.

The furthest I could get was the intro sequence, the game kept crashing on me in DosBox and the Windows version (which I also have) I could not get running. Could you tell me how did you manage it?
