does it really say WDIRxxF.DLL? or you just used xx as a wildcard?
because i found no file called WDIRxxF.DLL in my computer and the game runs

edit:i googled around and there seems to be this patch http://totalmortalkombat.alphalink.com.au/MKTPTCH.HTM
don't know what it does, didn't try. but you know, you could try google...

I copied here exactly what it said.
Now I go and check that patch.

EDIT: Doesn't seem to work. The installation-manual of the patch even says to run something named "wconfig" or "UniVBE", but that kind of file doesn't exist in the game's directories.

Ok, I searched the net, and the patch should work (although in the connection of the mentioned error-message sme kernel-message was also mentioned, but maybe that's not important), but it requires a file called "UniVBE", what is basically the settings-file for sound, videocard, etc., and currently no included in the download-package.

Oh, and those who use XP, might consider an alternative patch (in case the already mentioened do not work): http://hardwarebg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8930
The site is russian, but the patch is english, so search fot the name: "mktxpnosp1fix.zip"

All right, this is the patch I always use for the game, and was what I included in the archive:
http://home.comcast.net/~heavyweight.../mkt/index.htm

I thought it would work portably, but apparently it doesn't. Just reinstall the patch and the game should work fine.

The one you linked r.u.s.s.
But the change is occasional (and only applies to WinXP) as reported by others who didn't experienced any changes.
