There's something wrong with my Commodore 64.
Everything is connected as it should be, but i only get a black screen. Where's the problem? |

Are there hitsounds when you type?
If yes then your TV out is broken. If no then your C64 is broken. In either case spend $5 for a new C64 or let it be.

Let me guess. When you switch power on you get the black screen... Mine's been doing that for ages (easy to bypass). Leave everything turned on and just unplug it (out of electricity). Then Plug it in and it will work.
I actually made another switch (before the Power Supply), so the computer is always on, I just cut the power to it. Worked like that for over 10 years now (still does). I think something is wrong either with the main switch (between the joystick ports) or with the fuse (on the power supply unit). Hope that helps! k: @Niles: What hitsounds??? |

I'm sure you can find one on Ebay For a price tho... and also here in Australia I can still purchase SNES, Sega Megadrive and other older consoles... some people are actually getting rid of them... the loonies they are
But in regards to the C64, hmmm... been a lot of years since I fiddled with them, but I do recall that you encountered that problem with more than 1 drive connected on start up. But then that was the old C64... there were 2 or 3 models made back then... latest one was slim and looked a bit like a mini amiga |
