Has anyone been able to run Lion using DOSBox? I keep trying, but nothing I do works. I've read the entire thread and tried all the steps people have posted, but I'm still getting the 'hr_hires.c #1.-1' bug.

I tried changing the path in the LION.CFG , but I'm not even sure what I should change it to.

Any help?

I had success using it with VDMS actually, though as i recall you are unlikely to get any sound working with it.

The game is really only a little interesting for a short while though... sleeping, hunting, etc. can only keep you interested for so long .

I've noticed the "the 'hr_hires.c #1.-1' bug" myself sometimes when I'm trying to play in full screen in Dosbox and have figured a way around it.

1. Run MSDos Prompt
2. press Alt+Enter (to go to full screen)
3. At the prompt type "exit" to close MSDos window (still in full screen)
4. Now run Dosbox
5. Press Alt+Enter again to go to full screen for Dosbox
6. Type in the mount commands so you can play your game
7. Run game

So far I have had no problems for running Lion and Wolf in full screen modes following this method. *Also* if you wish to go back to desktop (temporarily) pause Lion or Wolf using 'Space Bar' then press Alt+Enter, remember after using this method always pause before you switch to full screen or back to windowed mode.

Hope this helps those who are having the error.. (still no sound with Lion but I'll be fixing that when I buy the game)

Like I said, I've tried everything, and Lion still won't run. I haven't even got it to start; I keep getting the hr_hires.c #1.-1 bug/thing.

Here's what I do:
I mount the drive I keep all my old games in (including Wolf, which runs fine) and then enter this (I use my D: drive for my old games):

D:\>CD Lion
D:\>Lion.exe

Then, I get this screen:

hr_hires.c #1.-1
D:\LION>

What am I doing wrong?

Just a quick question in relation to Lion (excuse my nubbinsry, since it has probably already been answered, and if so I apologise):

I have the CD version of Lion, and have been trying to get it to run on DOSBox, but it complains of the CD needing to be in the CD drive (which it is, I hasten to add). I was hoping to get Lion to run with sound as I've never managed it before... then I read that you could get the full, working version from here from the "ISO Cellar"...?

I was wondering if someone could explain to me what the ISO Cellar is, and also if the full version of Lion with sound is indeed located there?

Sorry for being wordy and possibly repeating stuff that has been answered previously in the thread :S

You must mount your cddrive as D in dosbox:

mount d x:\ -t cdrom

x:\ is your real cddrive letter under windows.

And read this:

I did this but it doesn't seem to be able to find the actual lion EXE on the CD itself - that bit is installed on C, and when that's mounted, of course, the no CD error happens...

Delete what you've done t'll now. Start from scratch.
Install IN dosbox from D on C.

And once again:

All your problems come from a bad virtual C mount, a bad CD mount, a bad install.
That, or you don't have the original CD but a crummy downloaded one.

I have read the guide, but it more applies to stuff downloaded from Abandonia rather than something you have the CD for... running the setup.exe causes it to say that it cannot be installed to C; "The specified path (C:\Lion) cannot be created."
