hello, im a fan of oldschool games, so im a fan of syndicate wars.
i have the original german cd from ...eh i was 13 or 14 years old.
im sure it was 1990...never mind
i want to say that syndicate wars is freeware, but syndicate isnt freeware.
so why you dont upload it?
esa isn't for syndicate wars, its only for syndicate...dont know why but its true.
so i have the freeware version with no videos, but its multilingual...not realy but i have copy the 3 german files from my cd and the texts are in german now.
if you want the german sounds the final german pack is 15 mb.
if you want i upload the english version and the german pack, because you need this great game to your database.

In german wikipedia says:
"Syndicate Wars wurde mittlerweile – im Gegensatz zu Syndicate – als Freeware freigegeben."
Syndicate wars is now opposed syndicate declared as freeware.

this freeware version dont have intros or movies.
so its only 30 mb small.


but im not sure by my self...but the game is so great, it would be great if you have this game.

Sorry, but this is insufficient to prove the game has actually been released as freeware.

What actually seems to be going on is that someone got freeware confused with abandonware and that again with oldwarez.

Not necessarily the german Wiki. And maybe be not the german authors of that article, either. But as articles on wikipedia are written by non-professionals who are writing just what concerns to their attention, it might be that they are wrong and mixing things up... no offense at all!

I'm not saying that. What I am saying is that as far as it seems, someone thought that if a download is on HOTU the game is freeware (both link to HOTU and the "freeware" information were added in the same edit), and no other source has any proof on the matter.

This is one of the reasons why so many people take a piss off Wikipedia and anything posted in it.
Myself, I just think that any potentially critical information found on Wikipedia should be verified using other sources before I fully believe it.

There is one or two other sites claiming the very same thing, but all fail to provide any proof to these claims whatsoever.

German Wikipedia - history comparison. You don't need to know German to see that the contributor thought the game's availability on HOTU makes it freeware by default.
