[Luchsen] Return Fire, [?]
I've spent ages trying to track these two games down - I remember playing them when I was a kid in about 1997 or so. Unfortunately I can't remember their names, but I have a pretty good idea of what they were about and looked like - I'd love any help I can get from you folks in suggesting what they could be. It's probably worth mentioning now that they were most likely (fairly high end) shareware games, and not proper boxed releases as such, which makes finding them even harder. Both games ran on Windows (95) in a window with the title bar displaying I think.
The first was a top-down, 3D-angled (like Diablo, SimCity, etc...) style tank game, where you drove a tank around an army base. All the buildings and stuff on the land was very destructable - you could run over it and destroy it, and the game had spectacular (at the time, anyway) sound effects to reflect this. The second game was really strange. It had a platform-style view of a spaceman (?) character which you controlled, and he had a variety of laser-y guns to use I think. In particular I remember the game was bit buggy, and it was possible to get the character stuck in the badly designed scenery. Sorry for the bad descriptions - if you need any more information please don't hesistate to ask me. Thanks in advance! :amused: |

You nailed it! I can't believe such a popular game passed me by. I really need to look harder in future. Thanks very much. |

Perhaps the second one is "Abuse"?

Sounds a bit like shareware game I had on a CD. I'll take a look when I get home (I'm in Multimedia again :laugh

Aha, so that's the name of the game I also thought of.

I'm afraid it's not Gateworld, either!
I'm pretty sure it was a Windows game. |

Did it have a fixed-forward firing point, or was it aimed with the mouse? If so, it might be Genocide (not the one on MobyGames, but some other one I have on CD somewhere). There's some stuff on Gamespot, but I can't find anything else. If it helps, it was by Kaos Kontrol.
