Default Help me with my Math!

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/530334

Im a RETARD.

Because my dad is pissing himself that i only understand half of this shit he wants me to do more! Some of the stuff are simple questions i cant wrap my mind around, and the others are..well....yea.

Technically it's cheating, but this is only a practice to help me catch up all my math so im not failing, so i don't get my computer, cell phone, playstation 3, etc all taken away (the nerve of him, i paid for all of these, cept the pc. How would he like it if i took his truck away?)

I seriously do not understand math, ive been going to tutoring, etc, my mind just can't wrap itself around numbers! I cant even subtract in my fucking head >.< And it makes me frustrated when he expects me to do stuff i already tried and failed at! I feel retarded.

73. Ben is nine years more then four times as old as Brad. In 21 years the sum of their ages will be 101. How old is Ben Now? A. 49 B. 11 C.53 D. 10

69. Tom is 4 times as old as Todd. In 4 years, Tom's age will be 16 years more then 2 times Todd's age. How old is Tom? A. 40 B.37 C.41 D.38

68. Express the relation as a set of Ordered Pairs, then determin Domain and Range.

x 0 4 -7 -2 10
----------------------------
y -4 2 8 7 -1

A: {(-4,0),(2,4),(8,-7),(7,-2),(-1,10)}
Domain = {-4,2,8,7,-1}
range={-4,2,8,7,-1}

B: {(0,-4),(4,2),(-7,8),(-2,7),(10,-1)}
Domain = {-4,2,8,7,-1}
range={0,4,-7,-2,10}

C: {(-4,0),(2,4),(8,-7),(7,-2),(-1,10)}
Domain = {0,4,-7,-2,10}
range={0,4,-7,-2,10}

D: {(0,-4),(4,2),(-7,8),(-2,7),(10,-1)}
Domain = {0,4,-7,-2,10}
range={-4,2,8,7,-1}

67. Determine the Range of the relations {(5,0),(-4,1),(3,-3)}

A. {0,1,3} B{5,-4,-3} C{0,1,-3} D{5,-4,3}

66. Determine the domain and range: {(x,y)|y^2 = x}

A Domain {X|X is any real number} Range {y|Y is any real number}
B Domain {X|X is any real number} Range {y|Y > 0}
C Domain {X|X is any real number} Range {y|Y > 1}
D Domain {X|X > 0} Range {y|Y is any real number}

64. A solution of 79% pesticide is to be mixed with a solution of 23% pesticide to form 224 litres of a 71% solution. How many litres of the 79% solution must be used?

A. 73 B.201 C.192 D.182

58. Gilbert and Jan drove a total of 259 kilometers in 3.2 hours. Gilber drove the first part of the trip and averaged 75 km per hour. Jan drove the remainder of the trip and averaged 85 km per hour. How long did Gilbert Drive?

A. 2.4 hours b. 0.8 C. 1.9 D. 1.3

Thats all for now, it's almost 1 o clock here and im tired of trying this shit, all im doing is cussing at myself and getting mad >:[

For 73,72, and 69, I think you need to use quadratic equations. Don't ask me how.

73.

Ben - 9 = 4*Brad
Ben + Brad + 2*21 = 101

-> solution: Ben = 49; Brad = 10
You just write what is told in the question and solve the equations. It's that simple

#73 = answered by zirkoni

72. It's 11kmph. On still water it travels at 55kmph. Going downstream it's 66kmph (22 divided by 0.33 because 20mins = 1/3hr = 0.33hrs), and going upstream it's 44kmph (22 divided by .5 because 20mins = 1/2hr = 0.5hrs)

69. Answer is A. 40. In 4 years, Tom will be 44 years old and Todd will be 14. 14 x 2 + 16 = 44.

68. In coordinates, X is left side, Y is right side. All X values = Domain, All Y values = Range. So it's D.

67. C. Read my solution for 68 and you'll see why it's C.

66. My logic guessed that it's C, but I haven't encountered stuff like this in domain and range. So I could be wrong.

64. I forgot how to solve this one, sry.

58. D. (75 multiplied by 1.3) + (85 multiplied by 1.9)

Forgot??? You don't really need to remember anything, just use common sense (draw a picture if that helps).

0.79x + 0.23y = 0.71*224
0.21x + 0.77y = 0.29*224

-> x = 192; y = 32

Put it into a pair of equations and see what you'll get:
To=4Td
To+4=16+2(Td+4)

To=4Td
To=12+2Td+8

To=4Td
To=2Td+20

4Td=2Td+20
2Td=20
Td=10

Then just substitute that in the first set of equations to calculate Tom's age.

Thanks a ton guys :3 Yea it is Quadratic Equations. The Parabola's and anything that actually requires graphing (or graphing a function, etc, finding a verterx) is easy but everything else im kinda lost on.

But because it is easter, we're having family over for dinner and i won't have any time during the day to get the rest of the homework done, BUT its okay cause I saw my teacher yesterday in the Co-Op and asked him if he'll help me with the 26 out of 96 questions i didn't have done, and he said it'd be alright

Thanks again guys
