Made in 1996 or 1997; used DirectX 3 for DirectDraw and DirectPlay (it was multiplayer only); possibly freeware; ran only in 800x600; had looked like the following mock shot:
and the icon looked kinda like this though it wasn't necessarily the game's name I don't even know what the name is or where to get it either. Must be super obscure now :\ |

Through some bit of deep mind investigation, the game may have been called "Alpha Wars". A couple more clues:
* It was a single EXE file! * Benboco.com may had it. Archive.org can't dig them up however due to early cybersquatters. |

It doesn't ring any bells with me, I'm afraid. Maybe tell us a little about the genre? Is that a ship icon? Was it a simulation game? Action? What?

it's really a simple action game. Cute vehicle-based games like this were quite the fad in the mid-90s.
