Default Bonjour!

Hi!

I discovered this site a couple of months ago and it brought back lots of memories from my teenage years, where I had much more time than now to play video games.

I am 33, married, and a father of 3. My oldest son is 6 years old and already pretty good at the Wii (we went through New Super Mario Bros together, and the boy's skills are really impressing!). His 4-year old brother is also learning fast. Their younger sister (2 years old) already loves watching them, and I am pretty sure she will also enjoy playing games with all of us.

I already exposed my kids to retrogaming and my oldest son is already pretty good at Super Mario 3 and Megaman. I will eventually show them the games I played during my teenage years, and those were mainly PC games, most of them being available on this site.

I live in Canada, in the province of Québec, where French is the main language. I work as a technical writer, writing software and electronics documentation in both English and French. I joined (and actually revived) the French Translation Crew to help you guys maintaining such a wonderful site, but I must admit that it will also be benefitial to my curriculum and my writing/translation skills.

See you around!

Welcome to the site and thanks for picking up some translation work while only being new.

Bonjour, comment ça va?

Always interesting to have a neighbor around.

I would never give out my real name around here though. Our laws are not very kind to people who are linked to Abandonware. I really doubt that there is high chances of having trouble because of it but doing so is pretty much like admitting guilt.

Très bien, merci, et toi?

Yeah! Cool to see someone here living in the same time zone...

I posted my first name here and there, but even in my account I did not left any trace of my last name. However, you'll agree with me that if they want to find who we are, they'll contact our ISP and they'll find us...

Note that with Harper in the hot seat for next year, that won't help the abandonware cause... damn those 'tories!

But I like how this site shows transparency, stays clear of roms and focuses strictly on real abandonware. I also like the fact that it shows respect for cultures other than English American.

See ya around (virtually)...
