There were already many, more famous games they had already released as freeware (no source AFAIK however).

By the way, since we're talking about Apogee/3D Realms, I think we could consider many of their shareware episodes OK for the site. (Yes I know this isn't the Staff forums, let's have some user input.) :P Not changing our current rules, but because:

- They have too big a place in gaming history (Duke Nukem 1, 4 and 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, etcetera).

- They aren't demos or crippleware or anything of the like. They are self-contained episodes, with an ending, boss and all. As a matter of fact according to the current standards of the industry, they would be full games and you would be charged for them. Then of course you would be charged again for the subsequent episodes which would be called "expansions". Actually the additional episodes of most of these games could be purchased separately as well as the whole bundle.

What do you say?

A few notes about these releases:

* These are all being offered as freeware (which is not to be confused with public domain or the illegal concept of "abandonware"). YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN WITH THESE Do not contact us for help with them, you will be mercilessly ignored.
This is disheartening.

Its people like us that keep these types of games alive.

Question: When we want to upload a game from those released as public domain do we use the version supplied now by them? WHat if there is a game uploaded on our site already but has a different size?

Not neccesary, unless the version the company released as freeware has been updated/patched in some fasion.

Run a cross-check to prune identical files and see what you are left with.
