How about creating a sub-forum called "archives". We could store there some of the greatest topics and historical events of the Abandonia (i.e : The ESA-incident).
And of course, these threads are only readable. |

If the admins don't deem a whole subforum justified, actually it would be enough a sticky with links, maybe in Important Announcements, or in Site Comments/Suggestions. And it could be closed so that only admins could add new links to relevant threads.
EDIT: Still if the admins deem an event relevant enough it will have its own sticky I guess...
