I've finally recovered my original copy of this game! The DOS install works under XP with Win95 compatability (i'm using an image copied disk in my drive, just to be sure).

I've searched far and wide on this great digital wasteland to find an equivalent copy and failed. All the forums speak of not being able to use it under XP - and I have always differed. This is the true copy of Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries.

I'm happy to make up a good handful of these disks and mail them to the Great Abandonia cause, but I'm a tard and can't seem to make a .iso or .nrg for the disk properly. You should simply be able to use the directory of the CD itself, copied/mounted onto a disk (AND specifically using the DOS installation in the DOS directory) - whatever. It still looks for the CD just for the music if you use the full install, hopefully an easy fix - but the music is awesome.

I've already written up a review, and i'll get a scan of the manual soon - I may have lost the cardboard button guide. I await the method of transference!

Yeah, the password was (X.) not just (X) - I nutted it out.

Let me know if it works! I really missed this game, and basically want to do everything I can to share it now that it's legal.

Uploading a .img file of the CD. It works under d-tools (using the all files view).

Remember, mount in Dos-Box then run the install from the DOS directory!

I haven't been able to get the game to load with the mounted disk, but a copied disk in the drive works fine. With the biggest install the game only reads the music from the disk (as CD-audio, you can also throw the disk in your stereo) - and the music is worth it so burn yourself a disk!
