Default Stalker take a Walk

Damn this game was such a let down, I was waiting for this for years after hearing about it at a devoper conference, it soo damn long to come out that by the time it did its graphics engine was dated (look at cod4 / crysis etc). It has a real good idea behind it but just far too long to reach the shelves and unpatch it has soo many errors you could claim your money back (not fit for purpose)!!

Gutted

Patch number 1.0006 has just been released, it fixes Multiplayer mode.

Nothing special, but this is the last patch dedicated to multiplayer, next step will be Clear Sky, and then they will start to improve Singleplayer mode again.

I didn't think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was all that great. It was definately original, and quite memorable, but not a classic. I felt that it needed more story and definition. Maybe that's asking for too much though.

The ending that I saw was a real let down too. After all that I went through playing, the game had me do something really stupid at the end which resulted in me being crushed to death. Not very satisfying... :notrust:

Sorry man, but that's your fault, you didn't follow the plot.
You have not really finished it...there are different ends, it depends on the choices you have done.

The game isn't really meant to be played from mission A to mission B to mission C. The Stalker experience lies outside and beyond the simple progression of tasks. If you play the game as you would any typical shooter out there, you're not going to get why people rate this game so high, since you're denying yourself the essence of that experience in the first place. Moreover, you're likely to miss out on most of the story; It's pretty unique to the game is that a lot of the story is experienced outside the bonds of a tale.
It really surprised me how many people really didn't bother to take in and understand the story. How few really listen to what's being said and think about it themselves, rather then to blindly follow the top assignment on their PDA. There's loads of posts and ratings from people who got the earliest and worst ending and thought that was it.

That's not to say I wasn't disappointed at the end. The gameplay in those last few areas throws almost everything that makes me love Stalker down the drain, as it reverts to a standard corridor shooter.

Played a bit more (last time I played... well, last year.) and still enjoyed it. It made more sense after I read the books (not by much, but netherless). Sometimes simple things like throwing a bolt can be satisfying. I still hate underground (mostly because I don't know how to turn on flashlight, so the only way I light up the way - is the gunfire). Gah, I am afraid to meet the "Cthulhu" (Bloodsucker) yet again. Yup, I am certainly a coward.

P.S. Why can't you brake the gates at the blockpost to escape the zone?

Any specific reason why 'l' doesn't turn on your flashlight? Or 'n' doesn't turn on your nv module (if the suit is equiped with one)? :worried:

By the way, what books are you talking about? Roadside Picnic is the inspiration for the game, and well worth reading...
Are you also refering to the Stalker novel/story based on an early draft of Tarkovsky's film? If so, where did you get it?

Because that would be boring

1)I dunno which combination of keys turn it on. Beside, it's more atmospheric that way... although not very good with ammunition spending.

2)Nope. GSG actually released books of the games universe around a year ago. I have 3 out of 5, one of which I didn't see - and another which everyone say, to be a bad one. It's a multi-author project.

Russian, I don't know if those were released outside of the country. Titles are:
Shadows of Chernobyl.
Zone of Effect
House on Swamp
Choice of Weapon
Desertir (Traitor?) (Seems to be the worst book of the series)
