I found Abandonia about 4 months ago when I was searching for the game "Alter Ego" when I stumbled across a site that offered it for free and it also had DosBox for download.

After that I went back into that site (Abandonia) to find that it had tons of games and reviews and a forum which after that I said to myself "this is Abandonware Paradise."

But a few weeks later I lost interest in Abandonware and forgot it for about 4 months until...... when I was looking for programs to remove from my computer I saw a folder named "Abandonia" after that I opened it.

It had a folder named "Alter Ego" inside and a Text Document with the title "Games to download" and in it had a link "www.abandonia.com" and I followed the link and the memories all came back.

Well, I never answered to the old one, so I can answer into this one.

My friend showed me this site, because he knew that I was interested in old games. Well, I had to admit that the site was fancy-looking, clean and neat, so I stayed in for a while.

BTW, Spellcastin 101 was the game that got me into this forum.

I think I was searching for MadTV on the web. I used to have a german oldwares site but they kept hacking it.
And then there was another german freeware site that was taken down as well for (to me) reasons unknown.

I remember when I first browsed Abandonia and thought "Maaaan! They have all the stuff! All the good old ones!" Then I needed help and signed up.
And here I am.

I don't exactly remember how I found Abandonia. I think that I was just googling for some old games, and the first site that popped up was Abandonia. I was amazed by the amount and quality of games; they even had Ufo: Enemy Unknown! It took me some time before I got into forums though.

I don't remember every detail or anything, but I was looking around for C= games and (due to pretty lousy google skills?) I found AB, but thought not much of it. Then I looked for info on Monkey Island 1-2 and SubWar 2050. Once again I found AB, only this time I started to look around the site.

(BTW: I signed up at the forum to ask around for that "unknown title" that turned out to be SubWar, only I never got a single reply I'm still waiting... )

The rest is a grim history of countless meaningless posts
