Mmhh...THAT game is hard to start....
Try to run all the executables, until one makes the game start.
then when in the game, choose as first option "SETUP", then exit it and the rest of the game should work fine

I can post a mail i send recently to bgkv77, it explains the first few steps:

Start:

Well i gonna first give you a link to a guide to how to use the program dosbox. Use this link as a guide when you are in doubt.
http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=2502

ill explain the first few steps to use the program.

1.
You need to make a directory to place all the dos games that you unpack/get from diffrent sites. Lets say you place all those games in c:\oldgames

ex. you have maybe unpacked Civilization, so it have foloving patch:
c:\oldgames\colonize

2.
Then you start the program, dosbox.exe
the program start up, and you can see this:
z:\

3.
Now you tell dosbox where to find your old games, and type the following command at the z:\
mount c c:\oldgames
(and press enter)

mount c c:\oldgames
this command make dosbox create a virtual drive c: that you use to run your old games from.(note your normal c: drive wont be affected, this all happends within dosbox)

4. now its time to run a old game. you are still at z:\ now enter:
c:
(enter) (this will tell dosbox to go to the virtual drive you just created)
cd colonize
(enter) (now you enter the directory that colonization is installed under)
viceroy
(enter)

the game colonization start with viceroy.exe, this is just a example.
you use same procedure to other games the you unpack.

fell free to ask further questions, but try read the guide, as it have further explanation on how to increase/decrease peformance within dosbox.

End:

Hope it helps

Hi, First I have to say that this program is really great. But there's one problem. When I first started the program I did the mount thing on my games which is C:/oldies.

But when I had closed the program down and started it up again I tried to go to the same directory but it said again that I have to mount it. which I've already done.

So do I have to mout every time that I start dosbox or what?

You can make dosbox mount c:\oldies, you just need to open the file dosbox.conf in your dosbox directory with notepad.

Go down in the very bottom of the file, it looks like this in the end:

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.

Then just add this, so it looks like this:

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount c c:\oldies
c:

You can also use command line parameter when starting from the Start menu shortcut. All you need is to right-click the shortcut and choose "properties" from the menu. Then take a look at the topmost window... and take a look at readme at the same time. In your case, you need to scroll back the entire line and write "c C:\oldies" after the name of dosbox.exe. I did and it works (installed DB just on the last Friday)

Also DosBox emulates sound too, like old Soundblaster standards on new soundcards.
Under Windows XP old Dos-games cannot play the sounds or music based on this standard, just the General Midi-music, like Roland Rap-10.

I've never been able to get any sound using DOSBox. A good example is Darklands. It has configuration options for Roland, Soundblaster (early and late), AdLib, etc, but none of them seem to do anything through DOSBox--although I'm using a SoundBlaster Audigy card in Windows XP.
