Hi there,

does anybody eventually know a good Japanese Kanji learning application that is free or

isn´t that expensive? The program should be rather scientific as I want to use it for my

university courses.

And if you know something like that you might know which word tank is probably the

best, too...

Oh man learning Kanji!!!
I know about 50, but now I dont learn Japanese anymore.
I think Kanji had a lot to do with that!

I used a software program a few years ago that was great.
You type in romaji and then select the Kanji for a list ( like a spell checker).
Im sure what it was called but it was only for retail sale (if your looking for that).

I'll try tracking it down for you but I don't like my odds!!

I´m looking for something like Lexikan, but for free.

Ok, I know it is surely worth its money. But since I think that I´ll have to buy a

japanese word-tank soon I don´t want to spend much money on peripherie, if you know

what I mean.

So far I should know around 400 Kanjis. In the end of the next quarter it should be

around 900... hard work is comig up...

So it´s very important that I can re-learn with such a program. If it was like learning

with index cards without creating those, it would be great.

So I´m looking forward with which program you practiced japanese Ksnji :bye:

I learned most from a textbook.
I could probibly writeout about 10 of them now!!!! (Its been about a year)
I had a look for that program and no luck!!! If only I could remember the name
I did use a Japanese version of word ( not a language change, actually the japanese version of word) with my host family and that worked really well.
As far as know there arn't to many quality free periferals around... so might have to rely on the word tank or even, dare I say it, A BOOK!

My sympathies to anyone who has to learn 900 kanji. 120 was hard enough for me - and I never learnt them all perfectly either.

I wish I were still studying Japanese, but maybe it's a good thing I don't have another 780 to learn.

Actually I´ll have to learn around 1500. 900 is the amount of the first half of my study.

And, yeah I know what you mean when you´re are talking about difficulties of learning Kanji... :help:

It´s the script (alphabet?!) used in Japanese and Chinese language.

Its one or more characters (often very complicated) that spell out a word.
There are thousands of them and all advanced Japanese writing is primarily made of Kanji. You also learn the correct order of strokes for each character (some have over 15 strokes!!)

My host student has'nt even learned all of them (year 10) and he is very smart!
