I don't acquire games from pirates anymore, most of my friends have something that I want so they burn for me...
Many Multiplayer games must be bought so you can play online anyway...

I agree with Black angel about the fact games are more worthy when they come along with their own manual and box. Same thing applies to music CDs.
I buy games very rarely. I usually buy older ones which cost from 5 to 15 €, or that come along with magazines. Not to mention the existence of very good games that cost 20€ right after release (e.g. Runaway, Sacred and Imperium come to my mind). Last game I bought is Alone in the Dark - The New Nightmare, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Well worth the 12 €. If I can't afford a game, I go on without buying it. I'm not saying I've never played a pirated game, I just don't see the visceral need of having it. There're better things to do than playing games, for example since I joined Abandonia I've downloaded very few games, compared to the lot I downloaded before , because the forum itself is a very good time-killer and made me know some very nice people , something that would never happen playing a game (preventing replies: yes, maybe some multiplayer game could. ). That's it. Or maybe it's all because my comp is old and new pirated games can't work. LOL |

Originaly my post was directed at the fact that this seems to be turning into a "i want that game, let's declaire it abandoned" (in that case Diablo).. I can go down an get diablo in my FOOD market for 5€ or less... Now.. if you claim that you must pay 100-200 US$ for a game, doesn't that make you think WHY that is the case? Having THAT fact, as an excuse is pathetic.. sorry, but it is. I could just claim that i didn't feel like spending 30.000 € for that new car, so i took it instead. NOTHING at all differs those two examples. NOTHING. Just the value. If you can't afford to buy software for your computer, don't have a computer. Why have a car, if you can't afford gas? If a game is sold SOMEWHERE, go there and BUY it. If you wanna know if the game is worth the money, download a playable demo, read about it on the net... But for anyone who knows what a hard day of work is, you also know how pissed you are if someone steals the ressult of your work, and thereby leaving you without any ressult of your work.

I find games to be VERY overprized. 50 to 60' euro's for a game you often can't try? I do play the occasional downloaded game. If I like it, I buy it. If I didn't, it saved me a lot of bucks.
For a game console, you have the possiblity to rent the game at a local videotheque, but you can't for the pc, to bad :-/ |

this is my appraoch
a) i try all new games on demos first - im not parting with my hard earned cash on dud titles - so if i like it and will get a lot of play time out of it then i will go and exchange with my cash for a PC game B) i look for the titles that say come out at $100 AUS and wont buy them i buy them after 6 months when they drop to $20- $50 AUS Then i buy i consider it wrong to be slugged maximum cost on dud titles i avoid them like the plague As for the titles here well they are all over 7 years old mostly and the companies might make minimal if non existant profits on them from bargin basement stores. As for the new titles being pirated over the net (thta is unacceptible games companies do deserve some money for their titles but i dont pay brand new inflated costs either) leave it a few months then wait for the discounting to start - its what all good consumers do and only buy titles that are good quality Civ 3 - good game so i brought it MOO3 well heard it was not good so i payed $10 for it the other day (it is decent but not top quality) x2 the threat (space trading sim) good quality game waited however have seen a friend with it and played on his PC so was decent. |

Civilzation III is a very good game. What is bad is the Civilization III Complete package. But I already got in details on this thread about it.
MOO3 was one of the biggest disapointment I ever got from a game. You can't even say it's from the Master of Orion universe, only the story fit. And even then... <_< |
