I only started seeing actual originals (and even though quite seldom) in my Amiga days (around 91), but no one bought them. In my Spectrum days originals were simply a mirage. They weren't available even if you wanted them.

On the other hand I had to get a large portion of my "illegal" copies of games for a small fee - in the "copy houses" (regular hardware stores who did copies) - a thing that didn't happen in other countries. But for a kid with pocket money it was better than nothing.

Looking back now I think the great cracking legends should have sold their cracks... I wasn't even aware they didn't until the late 90's...
