i have been following the development of these quantam computer things for 5 years . the above new scientist article is just one of the latest titbits. its just that i cannot be arsed to type out loads of technical jargon, because i know i will misspell.... but they are coming. didnt a famous idiot once say *the world market for Computers will be between 5 and 10 * just before computing took off in a big way and reveloutionised the world banking system and then invade the home buisness.
i cant even be bothered to quote bill gattes predicition of what the pinnacle of a home
pc was...
the speed this thing has developed. in the 1980s a 48k machine was considered good.. now my machine is lame becuase i have a 1.1ghz processor.. the speed this thing changes. these computers are coming, and when they do all of scifi dreams will become reality as scientists will no longer have to set networks that run for years to crunch the numbers to there problems. v.r will happen when the processesing power is there to support it. and that time is soon. considering the advances that have been made in the past 5 years in this esoteric form of computing, i would say its not going to be as long as you think
