![]() I loved U7, but THIS is the best game I have ever played, period. Civ, WC2, and SimCity are up there, but only U6 could transport you to another world, especially if you were playing for several hours w/o rest

![]() Locaster, not to argue with you about this--but what was it that made you prefer U6 to U7? Or was it the shock at the time of its release on how much Garriott had revamped his formerly tile-based series, in all respects?

![]() Actually, I also loved U6 more than U7. I dunno why exactly - the story was better in my opinion, and the graphics were just so cool for the time. Maybe 'cause I was younger?
I mean I used to play this game for hours and hours on end. No rest, no food, no water, nothing... U7 Didn't do that to me. Funny though, I never finished it. I came real close, but never did. |

U7 was too buggy to enjoy at first, and although I've never said this before, the murder-mystery aspect and gore seemed sort of out-of-place. That said, in terms of hours spent I probably whittled away twice the hours playing U7 than U6. I mean, there were SO many hidden places and tricks in U7. In particular, I remember the joy in finding out that you could gain nearly infinite gold by simply making bets at Buccaneer's Den and then pulling your losing bets off before the race/spin was over. You know you've played a game too long when you can safely say you've "broke it" in every possible way. In short, U6+U7= heaven on a PC |

![]() The main point in which U6 is better than U7 is the story. In U7 it's Big Red Endboss threatens Britannia, Avatar gets rid if him, Britannia saved - business as usual. In U6 British managed to pull out a story that starts out like all the other you were used in games (at least graphic based, don't know about text-RPGs), but had a great unexpected twist mid-game that was unprecended in its time. IMO U6 set a new standard for storytelling and and in this regard U7 was a step back from U6.
