The game originally ran like a snail in DOSBox, but after turning off the joystick, and remapping the keys, it runs smooth as butter
 But I can't get into the sewer, how do I do that? |

You need a wrench... Go to one of the radio towers, press Enter when a computer screen appears, and you should be able to figure it out from there.
However, my brother and I are both having our own trouble with this game..... We found the girl in the sewers, but when we move near her, she won't follow us like Tim did... Why?

If I remember the book, the girl is _extremely_ scared of the dinos.
No idea how to get past that in the game, though
