Everything you need to know about this game can be found at the RPGclassics Shrine: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/pc/ba...e1/index.shtml
This is the game that made me want to be a game designer. I remember playing it when I was 6 years old, and I think the last time I played it I was 27. One of my all time favorite games and one that emits an intense feeling of nostalgia. I have still (STILL) never gotten past level 4 of Mangar's dungeon. For some reason when I turn all the walls into doors and vice versa, I cannot get to the stairs! At this point I think it's better that I never defeat Mangar, it might make me want to stop playing. |

Yep, in college on my Apple IIe. Used lots of graph paper. I think 10% of the time involved was trying to get past level 1, I could never walk down a street. Once I got things under control, it was fairly smooth sailing. |

So is it just me, or there's something weird with the controls of this game in DOSBox? Yesterday when I played it, I used the arrow keys to move, and sometimes my party just turned in another direction, or kept going forward, which almost every time ended in a disaster, do to me getting lost
Does anyone have the map for the city? Would be a nice extra, for not getting lost completely.

It may help, Hun, if you were to use the left arrow to go left and the right arrow to go right...
<== Left Right ==> It does it for me too, sometimes and I've found a fix is to mess with the cycles until the game runs smoothly. The number changes depending on the machine, so try changing dosbox to use % cycle changes (lower than 500 step, but I prob don't remember that correctly) and see if it helps you, as it has me. [oh yeah] I'm making maps for this and Kyrandia bits in Excel - I'll transcribe them when complete. Give me a while... |

Man, I played this series years ago, and it was a lot of fun. It's great to see it here for free. However, these days, the more modern cRPGs (late 90s) pull me back if I have free time to spare during the work week. I tried to get back in, and, well, I'm glad I played it the first time around, but there's not much room these days for another round.
