Really? With Germany? You must be diverting quite a bit of IC into your navy from realy on, then. I've never actually tried this approach, since I usually completely underfund my navy. Does it work well?

And you don't really need a lot of sea planes, as long as you provide a good escort. A few sea planes destroy ships too, as long as the enemy doesn't have carriers.

I try to build two battlecruisers and two battleships before the war starts as well as mutliple light cruisers and destroyers all of improved quality. Besides this I build close to thirty submarines of long range class. This all does cost a lot but I still manage to push 120 divisions including 12 armoured at the war's start. It might be expensive and leave a little dent in the normal division production but you don't need those divisions at that time and taking out Britain either in late summer 1939 or early spring 1940 means you have taken out a serious pain and you no longer need 30+ divisions defending the west coast (you still need to have the fleet patrolling though).

I must admit I have only used sea planes as Italy and I found them lacking then. I only had three and they where of the earliest variety but still they only managed to take out the completely obsolete Spanish fleet one ship at a time (yes I invaded) and only while taking substantial losses.

Well, I have an admission too. I've never actually tried to match the strength of the Royal Navy at sea. I've never had to, due to the AI. Even without destroying the RA (but still weakened it with planes) I've been able to sneak at least 30 divisoins across the channel before getting caught. And due to the fact that UK never seems to prioritize the defence of its homeland, that's more than enough tp take it. This is a bit of an exploit imo, but I can't resist using it when playing Germany.

Admittedly, I haven't tried this with the latest patch, and it's almost certain there will be more patches, so hopefully this will improve.
