All of the bands i listed have their style drawn from rock. Rock is a general term, and encorporates all those bands.

Heres what my music folder looked like a few weeks ago (we had a topic like this on the AGS forums). I've got more music since then but hey...

And heres my sorta current playlist: My winamp playlist thingy

I used to be more into metal stuff, but about a year ago, discovered Jeff Buckley, and have been into more mellow and acoustic stuff. I'm a big fan of RaTM and Audioslave and RHCP and The Prayer Boat(Any irish people here?), and also coldplay. I love Dream Theater and many other heavier stuff too.

I like wierd al music, and some rock. Also like the group The Black Mages (a group that remixes Final Fantasy Music) it even has the original composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Dream Theater is awesome!
And Joe Satriani is a guitar genius, but his best creations are those he makes together with bassist Stuart Hamm! These two together can create some of the most dreamy music available.

Anyone knows Chris Huelsbeck? He makes music for computer games and also for listening and he makes GOOD music. Look at this site to inform yourself about him if you like: http://www.huelsbeck.com/
Also you can hear some of his music for free here: http://www.electronicscene.com/artist_music.cfm?a=2635
You have to register there though in order to hear that music, but that should be no problem, you don't have to pay for anything if you don't actually want to buy some music there.

Fully agreed. Somewhat strange that there's no more real music this times underway... Perhaps it's because there are aplenty of machines to make the music for you, so you can't feel the instrument and the music yourself anymore... Or perhaps it's because everyone tries to get his music on and sell it for best price and become popular only, and I think there are too much too young people that make this music. Most of them don't even know how real musik have to be.
But try the above links, that one is good music.

I agree entirely. Dream Theater are awesome. I particularly like there softer stuff, and my favourite album is Awake. Train of Thought is good, but yeah i sorta moved away from the whole metal stuff so imo its not one of their best. Scenes form a memory is also awesome.

I've only recently gotten into Joe Satriani, but I know he's awesome, so I will be getting more.
